Veridian Credit Union awards up to five Community Engagement Awards annually, potentially one for each of UNI's five undergraduate colleges. Each award recipient receives a Community Engagement plaque and a $1,000 check payable to the nonprofit organization of the faculty member’s choice.
Community engagement: the collaboration of the university with the public and private sectors for the mutual benefit of all. This includes collaboration with constituents from the commercial and nonprofit sectors, special interests or needs, and groups of people affiliated by geographic proximity.
Candidates for this award must be engaged with the community through their research or teaching.
Nominating ProcedureNominations can be made by community members, faculty, staff, and/or students.
To nominate a UNI faculty member for a Veridian Credit Union Community Engagement Award:
The deadline for submission is February 19, 2010. Direct questions to Brenda Buzynski, Office of the President, at (319) 273-2566. Award recipients and the community organizations with which they are engaged are recognized at the annual UNI Community Engagement Luncheon in the spring.
